Unified Thoughts
“Today, in our increasingly secular world, loving one another doesn’t just mean 'loving'. " - Rush Limbaugh from See I Told You So, 1993
Robert E. Lee, of Civil War fame, is reputed to have said that “It is well that war is so terrible; else we should grow too fond of it.” The statement verbalizes how most people feel about conflict. They prefer to avoid it, sometimes no matter what the cost, rather than fight. This attitude has been seized upon by the radical left, to promote the idea that, if you disagree with someone, you must hate them. The radical left then follows up this unwarranted assumption by screaming “bigot”, “racist”, “transphobe” “Islamophobe”, “homophobe” and on and on. Rush saw this coming a long time ago.
“Today, in our increasingly secular world, loving one another doesn’t just mean “loving”. It’s being forced to accept as normal those behaviors and lifestyles that are absolutely abnormal. It’s not enough to live and let live. You must chant their mantra as well; you must repent and renounce your own values, and pronounce those of the radical left as superior and adopt them. However, some things are strictly forbidden in this brave new educational world. For instance, we can’t teach the Ten Commandments. In fact, we can’t even post them in the classroom. Why? Because their origin is religious and that, (God forbid!) might offend.”[1]
Rush is spot on. We have seen this happen over the last three decades with the LGBTQ+ movement. When we say LGBTQ+ movement, we do not mean everyone who identifies with that myriad of ever increasing letters and symbols. We specifically refer to the activist class. What did the activist class tell us over and over again? They just wanted to live and let live. They just wanted equal marriage. Then they just wanted to adopt kids. Then they just wanted to teach your kids that gays exist. Then they accused you of being a bigot and homophobe if you objected to your kid being transitioned behind your back in public schools. The slippery slope is a real phenomenon.
