What Rush alluded to here, what he always knew how to do, the most difficult thing for anyone in a pressure packed public situation to consider, to think on one’s feet and not accept the premise of something that is in direct opposition to core beliefs (or good sense). Ironically, this was a lesson also taught many times on Aaron Sorkin’s The West Wing. It is something we, our leaders and spokespeople need to be prepared to do every day without exception.
