Lockdowns, helpful? Depends on the goal
"By flattening the curve or staying home locking down was never gonna to get rid of the virus." - Rush Limbaugh
2020 seems like a long time ago to many of us. So much has happened in the less than three years that it seems like much more time has passed since SARS-Cov2 (better known as Covid-19) first entered the consciousness of the American public. Because the news cycle has accelerated mightily in the last few years, some people may not remember the lies we were told. And oh boy were we told some whoppers. Surgeon General Jerome Adams told us masks would not work, then said they did. He should have stuck to his first answer. Anthony Fauci told us the mRNA vaccines were safe and effective. Now he they never had a chance of stopping Covid. But perhaps the biggest contradiction and falsehood was the “two weeks to flatten the curve” lie pushed on us by state and federal health officials. Rush spotted the lie very quickly.
“Two and a half months ago, two and a half months ago they were telling us, we can’t open until we flatten the curve. And we have to flatten the curve, we have to save our hospitals, we have to save the healthcare system. We can’t open up ‘til we flatten the curve. And all the while trying to convince people flattening the curve was actually curing or getting rid of the virus. Which was never going to happen, by flattening the curve or staying home locking down was never gonna to get rid of the virus. Then one month ago she said we can’t open until we have massive testing. We can’t open until we have massive contact tracing. We can’t open ‘til we got all these new things, moving the goalposts. Two weeks ago we can’t open ‘til we have a vaccine. Today we can’t open until Biden’s elected. As far as people on the left are concerned, we can’t open period.”
