President Washington's first inaugural address in which he spoke of "the experiment entrusted to the hands of the American people.”
“ …the preservation of the sacred fire of liberty, and the destiny of the Republican model of Government, are justly considered as deeply, perhaps as finally staked, on the experiment entrusted to the hands of the American people.”
Washington saw his role clearly and he led with the knowledge that the American experiment would thrive or perish under his watch. All of our leaders should be so wise.
