Democrats and the Little Guy
"It’s just a game they play and stand for the little guy. And yet they get away with the idea that they are the little guy and stand for the little guy and take care of the little guy.” Rush Limbaugh
No one is more discussed, appealed to, or argued over than the American common man. Politicians appeal to “middle class values” or “middle class expansion” or something of that nature from both sides of the political aisle. Both parties want to claim they represent you. The Democrat party consistently tries to position itself as the party of the poor and downtrodden. This is particularly true in the modern “oppression Olympics” where the left tries to classify everyone (except straight, white, Christian men), as under some form of intersectional oppression. However, anyone who has been paying attention to Rush already knows that the Democrats are the exact opposite of what they say they are. On April 15, 2015, Rush said it best:
“The Democrat Party today is the party of the rich. The Democratic party is the party of the hedge funds. The Democratic Party is the party of Wall Street. The Democrat Party is the party of government and business coalitions. It’s just a game they play and stand for the little guy. And yet they get away with the idea that they are the little guy and stand for the little guy and take care of the little guy.”
Just as an example of the how the Democratic party is the party of the big guy, not the little guy, consider the recent 2022 election cycle. 52.5% of House Democrats fundraising came from large individual contributions ($200 or more), compared to 42% of House Republicans. For the Senate Democrats it was 59.3% compared to 45.7% of Senate Republicans. While both sides take money from PACs and high dollar donors, the Democratic party consistently takes approximately ten percent more donations from big money donations. Hardly the party of the little guy.
If you are wondering just how deep the connection between the Democratic party and big business is, consider the example of the FTX cryto-currency fraud. The founder of FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried, is currently out on bail, accused of defrauding investors of over 8 billion dollars. The swindle itself is fairly well known. What is less well known is that Bankman-Fried was the second or third largest donor to the Democratic party in the 2022 election cycle, behind only George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. According to OpenSecrets, Bankman-Fried donated 35.8 million dollars to leftist groups. Elon Musk alleged that, including undisclosed donations, the number might be north of 1 billion. Intriguingly, at number 34 on that list, is another FTX employee, Nishad Singh, who wrote the code that allowed FTX to hide its losses.
It gets even uglier however. FTX may have had a backchannel to President Biden’s staff. A close ally of Bankman-Fried, Sean McElwee, had a Slack channel that connected directly to White House officials that he shuttered the day after FTX filed for bankruptcy. Worse still, it has been alleged by Gateway Pundit that vast amounts of the money sent to Ukraine to help them fight the Russians were instead invested in FTX. FTX then purportedly funneled those funds back to the Democrats who voted to fund the Ukrainian war effort. While the allegations have not led to federal or state indictments, FTX has known connections with Ukraine, and Ukraine is a notoriously corrupt country. Given the amount of money and weapons the western world has poured into Ukraine, if it had all been used properly, in my view the Russian army should be retreating towards Moscow. If these allegations were to be true, this would represent the highest level of money laundering possible and again if true would in my view demonstrate that Democrats do not care about anyone but themselves
While it may turn out that the allegations against FTX and Bankman-Fried are false, or at least are not proved in a court of law, it is likely not the case. The Democrats used Bankman-Fried to funnel them huge sums of money from the treasury just as surely as Joe Biden let his Chinese overseers fly a surveillance balloon over America, gather all the date it needed, and only then shot it down. Democrats are interested in making money for themselves and their friends.
As an example, Nancy Pelosi, formerly alternating between Speaker of the House and House minority leader, is known for buying and selling stocks using information she obtains on the job. As reported by Fox News, She recently sold off a bunch of Google stocks right before the government launched an anti-trust suit against the company. If you or I did something like this, it would be called insider trading and we would go to jail for an extended period of time. But when Nancy Pelosi does it, it’s called “smart investing”.
The problem here is that the Democrat party has become the party of the credentialed elite. The vast majority of university professors self-identify as Democrats. Donations from said professors favor Democrats 95:1. Because most other elite professions train under these same professors, the vast majority of the credentialed elites in other professions are also Democrats. Even in startups, like FTX, the people at the top often come from elite families. Bankman-Fried is the son of two Stanford University professors as an example.
It can be said the Democrat party has almost complete control over the levers of power. From the banking industry, to the hotel industry, to the sports and entertainment, nothing is untouched. This is why you periodically hear about conservatives getting their accounts canceled in various places because of their position, but never Democrats. For example, Curt Schilling, a World Series winning pitcher, had his insurance canceled for supporting Donald Trump. Even religion is not unscathed. Father Frank Pavone, a vocal pro-Trump priest who has been outspokenly pro-life, was defrocked by the Vatican for his support of unborn babies. And we are supposed to believe that the party that supports this is the party of the little guy?
Democrats love to claim they support the middle class and the little guy but the evidence speaks against them. Every action they take is intended empower and enrich themselves and their cronies, or remove power and funds from their opponents. They don’t care that roughly 64% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. All that matters is their own wealth and power. Conservatives can, and should, leverage this disdain for the ordinary American against them.
